Peels mirrors official public drop-off datasets into stub listings on the map. The app reads from Supabase, not from city APIs at render time.

First feed

NYC DSNY food scrap drop-off locations (nyc-dsny-food-scrap)

• Dataset: Food Scrap Drop-Off Locations in NYC
• Owner account: Stubs USA
• Sync: weekly via Supabase pg_cron, or manual invoke of sync-open-data-feed

Stub types

• Manual stubs: created by Peels admins for cities without a machine-readable feed.
• Mirrored stubs: created and updated by the open data sync job.

Mirrored stubs use different guest copy on listing pages. Official URLs live in listing links, not in the stub callout.

Claiming

When a real host claims a mirrored listing:

• is_stub becomes false
• ownership moves to the host
• the open data ref is marked claimed so future syncs stop overwriting it

Adding another city

1. Confirm the council or city publishes a stable API or open data endpoint.
2. Add a feed row and mapper in the repo.
3. Configure Vault secrets and run a manual sync on staging first.
